Ken Olson's journey into renewable energy began with a passion for sustainability and innovation. He has BS and MS Degrees in Building Science and Solar Energy Technology respectively. Ken taught the Solar Program at Colorado Mountain College for ten years (1981-1991) He co-founded Solar Energy International (SEI) in 1991, establishing it as a global leader in renewable energy education. As SEI's Executive Director for a decade, he laid the groundwork for the organization's pivotal role in the industry.
In 1999, Ken founded SoL Energy in Carbondale, CO, driven by a mission to advance our collective transformation to clean renewable energy. SoL Energy has helped hundreds of home owners, businesses, municipalities and public institutions turn their energy expense into an investment that pays for itself with clean renewable energy.
SoL Energy PV projects in Rifle, CO contributed to the City achieving net-zero energy status. Ken's influence extends internationally with his work in Latin America to train a workforce for solar powered vaccine refrigeration for the World Health Organization for the purpose of eradicating Polio from this hemisphere.
